Enwave Chicago Adds, Retains Customers, Wins Industry Award

The International District Energy Association (IDEA) recently recognized Enwave Chicago as the North American district energy system to achieve the highest growth and retention from the most square footage of customer buildings – more than 4.9 million – in 2015.

Enwave Chicago received IDEA's District Energy Space Gold Award for its 2015 achievement. The district energy systems in Boston and St. Paul were the silver and bronze award winners, respectively.

IDEA has held the annual contest since 1990 to recognize the district energy industry's high achievers and tell the story of district energy's growth. In 2015, reporting North American systems tallied more than 33.6 million sq ft of buildings committed or recommitted to district energy service. Since 1990, IDEA member systems have reported more than 693.8 million sq ft of space in North America alone. Systems beyond North American reported more than 42.8 million sq ft of customers committed or recommitted to district energy service.

Enwave Chicago is on track for success in 2016 as well. As of mid-year, new and existing customers totaling nearly 4.3 million sq ft of space have signed multiyear agreements for our service. We anticipate even more growth and retention through year-end.
