Major City Leaders Include District Energy in Green Plans

The mayors of Vancouver, Copenhagen and Helsinki came together in early March 2016 at the 2016 Globe Series in Vancouver to discuss green cities, including using district energy. All three cities have district energy systems.

According to an article in the National Observer, 98 percent of the houses in Copenhagen are linked to a super-efficient district heating system that captures waste heat from electricity production. Helsinki's district heating and cooling system boasts a 90 percent efficiency rate.
