Enwave Toronto Eyeing District Cooling Growth

Now celebrating the 10th anniversary of its deep lake water district cooling system, Enwave Toronto recently reported plans to grow the system over the next five years. That may take the form of tunneling under Yonge Street or replicating the system on the east end.

In an article titled "Enwave's district cooling system uses lake water to chill Toronto's core" featured online in CleanTech Canada, Enwave Toronto reflects on the success of its deep lake water cooling system and reports that it now air conditions 160 customers in the downtown area. Landmark buildings such as Toronto City Hall, the Air Canada Centre, Mount Sinai Hospital and TD Centre are major customers. Even the Steam Whistle Brewery is on the system.
